Dream Team Poker has been well-received within the poker base, helping portray the game of poker as a sport by making poker a team game instead of an individual game. Over the last six months, since their invitation-only introductory event in November of last year, they have really built up a following. Now they will take their squad to the 2009 WSOP. The Dream Team will host a tournament at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on July 12-13. The buy-in will be $500 + $60 per player, or $1,680 per team.
As an incentive to register early, the first 300 pre-registered teams will get personalized jerseys for every teammate. To pre-register, go to DreamTeamPoker.com.
WSOP Commissioner, Jeffrey Pollack, says, “After seeing the terrific response to the recent Dream Team Poker tournaments in Las Vegas, we thought a team-based event would be a fun addition to the end of the WSOP. The Dream Team Poker event is one of the many new elements added in 2009 that will help make this summer a memorable one for all WSOP players and fans.”
The last Dream Team Poker event held back in March of this year, held at Caesars Palace, brought on lots of attention from the media, and as a result, 148 teams of 444 poker pros and everyday poker players showed up to compete.
Dream Team Gaming CEO, Daniel Delshad, says, “The WSOP and the Rio have really shown their commitment to the players in continuing to innovate and try new concepts. Bringing our brand to the Rio during the WSOP and onto the most hollowed ground in the sport is a powerful way to introduce Dream Team Poker to the world.”
The new patent-pending team-based poker tournaments introduced to the world by Dream Team Poker takes the game of poker to a whole new level, incorporating new strategies and techniques—something new for players to explore and develop. These tournaments actually payout both team and individual prizes.
If you are going to be attending any of the WSOP events and are interested in the Dream Team event, stop by the Dream Team Poker booth outside of the Amazon Room. Representatives will be stationed there throughout the WSOP to talk about the structure of the event, register teams, and answer any other questions about the new way to play poker.
