T.J. Cloutier, successful poker pro, has earned six World Series of Poker bracelets thus far in his career. However, he only wants five of them. Apparently Cloutier is having money problems, as he’s listed one of them on eBay.
His 2005 World Series of Poker gold bracelet that he won during a $5,000 No-Limit Hold’ em tournament is now listed at the starting price of $2,999. The description included in the listing describes the bracelet as 14K gold with 13 round cut diamonds. No one has currently made a bid for the bracelet, but the auction doesn’t end until January 24th.
Cloutier’s other five bracelets include his 2004 $1,500 Seven Card Razz win, his 1998 $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha win, a 1994 $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold’em victory, a 1994 $1,500 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo win, and his first bracelet that he won in 1987 on Limit Omaha. In addition, Cloutier has made some other impressive accomplishments including a 2nd place win in the 2000 and 1985 Main Events and that he has finished in the top five in at least four other WSOP Main Events.
However, all of this success has apparently not been enough to support Cloutier’s lifestyle. It has been rumored that one of the reasons he has considered selling and then listing a WSOP on eBay is because his gambling forte costs more than his bankroll can support. His favorite casino past time these days seems to be frequenting the craps tables; he has been known to gamble big at craps and gamble often.
Ironically, he’s ranked 10th with $9,787,199 and 16th with $4,322,186 on all-time poker winnings lists, but he seems to be putting too much money into the wrong game. He should stick with poker perhaps, something he’s proven to be good at, but what makes the most sense isn’t always the decision people make. It can be assumed that between his unfortunate craps gambling and his unlucky hands at WSOP events in the past two years, he’s just down on his luck and has decided to come up a bit by selling a WSOP bracelet. It will be interesting to see if anyone buys it. If he doesn’t sell it on eBay, he could always visit one of those “Cash for Gold” places…
