According to the Goldman Sachs latest article and prediction to their investors, the United States will be legalizing and finally regulating the online gambling industry. Goldman Sachs have not been the first to predict this as many other groups have been saying that they believe the legalization of Internet gambling is imminent.
Since then Barney Frank, the Representative has brought forward two pieces of law regarding the online gambling. These legislations are to postpone the rules from the UIGEA / Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act from going into effect this December and then the legal Bill for online casinos. This is not Barney Frank’s first attempt to change the UIGEA, but this latest effort is being strongly supported but the myriad of people involved and watching. Frank suggestions call towards the regulation and legalization of online gambling in the US and Sachs believe this will be happening soon. “We believe it is logical to assume that the US market will eventually regulate, given the potential implications for US tax take, if nothing else” were Goldman Sachs words to their investors today.
So we all hope that things are finally looking up and likelihood is that online poker will be legalized in several states, that is before the federal government makes any changes to their legislations. The Internet gambling dispute has been postponed until at least September as Frank’s House Finance Committee is focusing their attention on the economy to start with.
Still, Frank believes that the legislation will go through and the patient players together with the online sites will be rewarded. Finally this would be good news after many bank accounts were seizes by the US Government as they held money for US player payouts. Many online poker rooms had even stopped accepting deposits with everything going back to normal last week. The sites are once again accepting the player deposits and this was even more motivation for the standard Americans to start or continue gambling online.
