Tom “durrrr” Dwan’s long awaited Million Dollar Live Challenge begins Tuesday in London. Last July, Dwan put forth the challenge, and while he does seem to be somewhat of a procrastinator when it comes to his challenges, he does follow through with them to some extent. The fact that this event will be televised in 2010 probably has provided Dwan with the motivation to follow through, perhaps if for no other reason than he signed some sort of contract. It may have been strategic, though, to schedule the Live Million Dollar Challenge post-WSOP final table, when there’s nothing else really going on.
The live counterpart of the online “durrr” Challenge, that saw Patrik Antonius step up to the plate to take on Dwan, commences in London at the Les Ambassadeurs Club in Mayfair, London with confirmed participants, Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, Sammy “Any Two” George, and Marcello “Luckexpress10” Marigliano, all buying in for a whopping $500K for the chance to take down Dwan live. The event runs from November 17 through 19 and will consist of heads-up play between Dwan and each of the previously mentioned contenders.
The challengers will have a choice between $500/$1000 Pot-Limit Omaha or $500/$1000 No-Limit Hold ‘em heads-up play against Dwan. Each heads-up match will go until 500 hands have been completed or one of the two players runs out of chips and goes broke.
Dwan extended a special invitation to Full Tilt Poker high-stakes newcomer and mystery player, “Isildur1,” to join him in London and reveal his true identity face to face after he took more than $3 million from Dwan in just one week’s time online. It is unknown whether he will show, though.
