The fate of the Cake Poker Network has been somewhat up in the air as certain executives have recently resigned from their position and poker sites like Doyles Room have left the network. Now, reputable sources say that the rumors surrounding the sale of CPN to PokerListings.com is in fact a reality.
While neither company has released any statement regarding the sale, Bluff Magazine reported that the sale will be final sometime in the next few weeks.
Cake Poker Network not only lost Doyles Room as of late, but over the last year, they’ve lost Sportsbook, Lock Poker, and Players Only, not to mention Card Room Manager Lee Jones and Tourney Director Serge Ravith. And let’s not forget that the network was hacked last year due to lacking security.
The network though, still has a large player base and has taken in as many sites as they have lost, including Unabomber Poker, Poker Pros Network, and Victory Poker. Whether or not they will survive the industry is unknown, but they do have quite a prominent presence and have been around for quite a while and have a following to show for it. Not everyone is anti-Cake, and now under new management and new ownership, it is likely that the online poker network will in fact prevail.
