It is an established fact that Internet poker has become one of the most popular forms of gambling for the Americans, with millions of online card players in the US. At the moment there are not enough standing regulations to protect the customers’ ends when they gamble at the many existing unregulated online casinos so they eagerly look forward to the US updating their online gambling laws. Everyone is awaiting a new ruling with poker becoming the first game to be regulated.
In the past couple of days, we have heard a lot about the future of online gambling in the US with online poker still shining through as the first regulated form of Internet gambling in the country.
Following the many letters received, requesting a delay in action, the Treasury Department has confirmed that there will be a delay in the planned implementation of the UIGEA/Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
In fact, it was also Representative Barney Frank himself who initially announced that the lawmakers will begin discussing his proposed legislation that would overturn the UIGEA last Tuesday but then made another statement following the delay saying that there is a delay but that he is still working on overturning ‘ the ill-advised law’.
We are pleased to know that the said legislation might take months or longer to be completed with new regulations being held off.
