‘Boku87’ is the online alias for the poker player who has been competing on PokerStars. He has recently turned a stake of $100 into $10,000 by playing just sit and go games, thus winning one of the greatest proposition bets in the history of online gambling so far.
‘Boku87’, following betting rules, would win the whole bet if he managed to earn $9,900 just by using his $100 stake, whilst playing games with a maximum buy-in less which is less than $16. This task would need to be accomplished in just 15 days, amidst avoiding 90 and 180-player tables.
The full challenge had to be documented by webcam, and numerous other players bet a total of approx $40,000 against ‘Boku87’. The latter received odds of 3/1 with the online poker room PokerStars.com pressing all the bets in an escrow account.
At the end of Day 1 into the challenge, ‘Boku87’ had already managed to play his way up of 50 individual 18 and 45-player tables at the same time with a minimal stake of just one dollar to increase his initial $100 stake to $422.
Gradually, over the next couple of days he increased his bankroll by gently advancing his stake, starting off at three dollars and then stepping on to six and finally twelve with a mixture of 18 and 45-player games. Boku did go through two moments where his bankroll level fell below $1,000 but then recovered quickly.
In the second week, Boku87 started reducing the number of tables he was playing on and focused on placing bets at only 30 tables at one go before achieving his final target with 36 hours still left to play !
In spite of this major win, ‘Boku87’ has revealed on his online poker blog that he has no interest to repeat such a feat in the future. Meanwhile, PokerStars.com has come forward and offered to host a $10,000 freeroll tournament for any of those gamers who lost out when crafty Boku reached his target win.
