For a while it seemed as if no one wanted him, or perhaps he just didn’t want to be tied down. However, it’s now official that Team Full Tilt is one player fuller, with the new addition to the team of world-renowned top poker professionals, Tom “durrrr” Dwan.
Dwan has been, over the past two years, one of the most influential, if not eccentric, players to ever play high-stakes online poker. He was an instant phenomenon when he brashly stepped out into the spotlight, quickly making a name for himself. He’s known for his inexhaustible high-stakes play at Full Tilt, where he has proven to be some sort of superhero, so it only makes sense that Full Tilt welcomes him home.
After coming on the scene online, he dominated the live poker scene, as well, making $1.1+ million in live tournament play. Dwan has three WSOP cashes and one WPT final table cash under his belt, but this hardly compares to his online accomplishments, being part of some of the biggest pots in online poker history. With his world-chattering poker challenges, he obviously loves the limelight and has appeared on numerous televised poker shows including High Stakes Poker, Poker After Dark, and Full Tilt’s Million Dollar Cash Game that showcased Dwan at his finest when he took a single pot of $1.1+ million, the largest ever televised.
As a member of Team Full Tilt, Dwan will now be schooling his followers at the Full Tilt Poker Academy, which is Full Tilt’s free virtual poker college that allows amateurs to learn from the pros for free. He’ll also be blogging about his Team Full Tilt adventures.
Howard Lederer, Team Full Tilt member says, “Team Full Tilt doesn’t take adding a team member lightly. But, Tom Dwan has proven, through skill and dynamic play, that he will be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come. We are proud to count Tom as one of our own.”
Dwan is now the youngest member on the team at only 23-years-old, but in the poker community he ranks equivalently with his new fellow teammates, Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, Jennifer Harman, Phil Gordon, Andy Bloch, Erik Seidel, Gus Hansen, Patrick Antonius, Lederer, and others. Dwan has been playing against Hansen, Ivey, Antonius, and other Team FT members at the highest of stakes poker tables at Full Tilt for well a long time. It only seems fair that he too be an official member of the prestigious Team Full Tilt.
