Dan “Wretchy” “WhatsLogic” Marting Caught Multi-Accounting at PokerStars & Full Tilt

Written by Marcus | Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Dan “Wretchy” Martin, aka “WhatsLogic,” an online poker player currently banned from PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker for multi-accounting, will be allowed back on the site come August 6th after a 30-day restriction. What’s more scandalous is that he his girlfriend and are forbidden to play at the same tables or tournaments together, for obvious reasons. Martin admits that the two did play in 45 online poker tournaments together over the period of 18 months.

Martin claims, “I played under ‘WhatsLogic’ for an ample time period (6-9 months), but that I did not ever play both accounts that were in a tournament. The hand histories proved this because the style of play was completely different.” He apparently used the “WhatsLogic” name primarily for cash games; “Wretchy,” which was his tournament alias, was one of the world’s top tournament players. He also adds, “I do feel that I’ve learned a lot about myself and other people because of this issue. To those of you that turned your back to me, stay turned away. To those that supported me, thank you.”

However, PocketFives moderator, Murderer, who first brought up the possibility that the two accounts were connected, posted proof of tournaments in which “Wretchy” and “WhatsLogic” were in fact both registered. Included in Murderer’s post were three PokerStars tournaments from September 2008 and several occasions from October 2007 in which the two accounts were present at the same multi-table tourneys. Murderer then pointed out two PocketFives.com threads posted around the same time, one by Martin mentioning “WhatsLogic” and another post about a different hand involving “WhatsLogic,” signed, “gg wretchy.”

The infringement of PokerStars rules and regulations was discovered back in February when Martin made a post on PocketFives.com that read, “I played under ‘WhatsLogic’ for a few months… unknown this bish!”

After the truth was exposed, posted the comments above, but also indicated the following: “Everyone and their brother knew it was me under ‘WhatsLogic’ as I clearly posted here that it was me. If you read things perhaps you’d know I was never trying to hide that fact.”

While at the 2009 WSOP in Vegas, he will be playing at Ultimate Bet. Martin was able to withdraw his funds from his PokerStars account, but Full Tilt Poker did freeze his account for the period of the 30-day suspension. Martin has been pretty successful lately, winning a slew of online tournaments with prize pools as big as $52K and $300K.
