The elite and distinguished group of up-and-coming poker players hand-picked by Doyle Brunson himself, the Brunson 10 just got another member to make five. DoylesRoom has announced that Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis will be the newest pro to join the group. Kamberis is from Indiana and made his poker debut at the $25K High Roller Bounty Shootout at the NAPT. Doyle Brunson’s daughter and manager of the Brunson 10, Pamela Brunson, made the official announcement on Twitter last Wednesday. Her post stated, “The 5th Brunson 10 member is….@ajkhoosier1. Alex Kamberis. He’s awesome! Y’all follow him!”
Twenty-three-year-old Kamberis was Card Player’s 2008 Online Player of the Year (OPOY) with 9,424 OPOY points. His largest cash that year was at PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker Main Event (WCOOP). He finished in third place with more than $780K in winnings. He was also second place in the Full Tilt $1 Million Guaranteed, winning $134K+. In total, he’s accumulated more than $4 million playing online poker tournaments, which is why it should be clear that Kamberis represent DoylesRoom and the Godfather of Poker in the Brunson 10.
Kambris will join Chris “Moorman1” Moorman, Zach “CrazyZachary” Clark, Amit “amak316” Makhija, and Dani “ansky” Stem to make five members so far. These guys will play at live events and represent Doyles Room both online and off.
Kamberis said to Poker News Daily, Being associated with Doyle Brunson in any way is such a thrill for me; I basically feel like a basketball player who becomes associated with Michael Jordan and the Jumpman brand. Doyle is such a legend and I’m really humbled by the fact that he felt I was a worthy addition to the team.” He continued, “Not only are Chris, Amit, Zach, and Dani all amazing, highly accomplished players, but they’re friends of mine and people that I have a lot of experience playing and talking with. I know that I partly owe this deal to them speaking up on my behalf – there’s a lot of mutual respect there, and it just makes things so much easier and more comfortable to just jump into this new chapter of my career.”
He added, “I am finally ready for this to be my first year that I put in a fairly full live schedule.”Last year, I only played a few live tournaments and in the couple years before that, I kind of just picked where I wanted to go, but now that I have the added incentive of promoting the DoylesRoom brand, well… let’s just say you’ll be seeing a lot of me in the near future.”
