Turbo Takedown at PokerStars

The Turbo Takedown at PokerStars is a monthly tournament event that runs the last Sunday of every month at 14:30 ET. One in three players will get paid out of the $1 million prize pool. Entry costs 5000 Frequent Player Points (FPPs). This game is one way to turn your points into real money. You will find this event under “Events” and then “Special.”

If you would rather not spend that many points, you can qualify in one of the many satellites that run 24/7 at PokerStars. These qualifiers will only cost you 10+ FPPs. You can find satellites under “Events” then “Special” and “FPP Satellites.”

The most incredible part of this is the pay table. First place automatically gets $100K. Second place gets $60K. Tenth place will win $4000. But it doesn’t stop there. Even if you place 50th you are going to take $925. Even if you get 100th, you’ll see $450. The payout table keeps going all the way to 4000th place. For 1000th place you’ll win $150, and anyone placing between 2000th and 4000th place will even be in the money with a $90 prize.

If 4000 places are paid and there is a 12,000 max player limit, then one in three players really will cash out. And these odds become even better if the maximum player limit is not reached. This tournament is fairly new, but it was tested and it passed with flying colors. It was then made a staple to the list of PokerStars tournaments.

By paying out so many spots, this game becomes less about winning first place and more about playing. Since this is a turbo tournament, there’s not much time to sit around and dream of the $100K first prize. You just know that if you are still in, you are likely to get something. These tourneys normally end in close to two hours. That’s up to 12,000 players going down in a very quick amount of time, and a third of those getting paid.

The PokerStars Turbo Takedown is perhaps one of the most inventive promotional poker tournaments yet. In an age where culture makes certain demands on technology, there is a definitive need for innovation and creativity in this business. Other online poker rooms have come up with their own unique ways to lead in this industry and have succeeded. The Turbo Takedown is the first of its kind. It is PokerStars way of saying they can and will hold their own in the ever-growing industry of online poker.
