Badugi Now at PokerStars

PokerStars has recently added a new game to its poker repertoire. The Asian game, Badugi, is now offered in both sit & gos and tournaments at PokerStars.com. So far, the game seems to be more popular, at the lower limits. Players who frequent low-stakes poker are really picking up on the game that is similar to both Razz Poker and Draw Poker. Much like lowball, players go for the lowest four-card hand and all four cards must show different suits. The optimum Badugi hand is A/2/3/4 offsuit, as this is one of the few games in which Aces are always low.

Throughout the game, players have two chances to draw new hands before each betting round, as they try to make their hands with low cards and no repeating suits. Badugi takes a quick-paced concentration, but due to the simplicity of the game, it moves very fast, and the hand per hour ratio is pretty good. It isn’t a hard game to master, and the more you play, the more you will notice improvements in your skill and quickness in your thinking.

As poker players seek out new challenges, and old variations of poker are re-invented over the years, old games, like Badugi surface and catch on. Badugi is Asia’s take on poker, specifically of Korean origin, and is a very interesting game offering fast action. It has all the components of an enthralling poker game. Badugi poker mixes skill with luck, has a place for bluffing, and has the potential to open up some exciting action. Whether or not the game will really take off, though, is yet to be seen, but now that big online poker sites, like PokerStars, are starting to offer it, it may become more popular. Also, if more tournaments include the game, like the BC Poker Championship did, Badugi may gain a larger fan base.

Register now at PokerStars and take on the exciting game of Badugi, enter Poker Stars marketing code PAWSUB465 for the best promotions for new players.
