"I don't really care about getting recognition. That doesn't really matter. I'm just here to win money,” said a
serious Eric Buchman after winning his spot in the 2009 WSOP Main Event final table.
Buchman, a Valley Stream, New York native, is not quite 30 years old but has been around the block when it comes to the live poker tournament circuit.
In fact, he’s had 22 cash finishes including four WPT cashes and nine WSOP cashes in the last five years. He’s guaranteed $1 million if he places 9th in
November, but is determined to walk away with $8.5 million more for first place, and he doesn’t hesitate to make that clear. Perhaps this intimidation will work in his favor.
He shouldn’t be so quick to expect first place, though, as he’s only had one first place finish in his entire career, and that was in 2004 at the New England Poker Classic.
In 2006, he made second place in the WSOP Event #4 No-Limit Hold ‘em and a second place win in 2007 at the Harrah's Atlantic City Poker Tournament - WSOP Circuit Event.
The rest of his accomplishments range from fourth place to 139th place, but one thing is for sure, he does have the experience to get the job done, especially when you
compare him with some of the other November Nine players, like Darvin Moon, for example, who has no live tournament experience outside of low-stakes casino poker.
Buchman currently holds a Bluff Power Ranking of 600th place and a 2009 POY Rank of 1,089th. He did, though, rank 123rd in the 2007 POY standings.
He’s definitely a threat to the rest of the table, but his attitude and ego may not fare favorite in the opinion of lady luck, who does at times tend to side with the more humble players.
He will sit at the final table in November with the second largest chip stack at 34,800,000 chips.
