Isabelle Mercier learned the game of poker as a child while growing up in Quebec, Canada. When she enrolled in college at the University of Montreal, Isabelle began working as a blackjack dealer at Casino de Montreal to earn money. Isabelle was working toward a law degree.
After earning her degree, Isabelle practiced as a commercial lawyer for a year before deciding to move to Paris, Franc to study for a master’s degree in international law. While in college in France, Isabelle began working as a poker dealer at the Aviation Club de France and worked her way to poker room manager.
Isabelle remained the manager of the poker room for four years and then decided it was time to pursue her own poker career. During that time Isabelle was nominated for the Staff Person of the Year award at the European Poker Awards.
It was 2004 when Isabelle began her poker career. In September of that year, Isabelle won the World Poker Tour Ladies Night Out Invitational II and was nicknamed “No Mercy” by Mike Sexton for her aggressiveness at the table.
Online poker website, PokerStars, noticed Isabelle’s skills at the WPT event and decided to sign her as a traveling ambassador to represent the website. Isabelle also plays online at PokerStars under her nickname NoMercy.
In 2005 Isabelle placed tenth at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo as well as cashing out three times in World Series of Poker Events. In 2006, she made her first European Poker Tour final table in Deauville placing seventh.
Isabelle not only plays poker in the industry she also has other endeavors. Isabelle has been the commentator three times for the WPT Championships at the Aviation Club de France and has been nominated for European Poker Awards twice.
She has also appeared in the documentary That’s Poker and has her own instructional DVD available. Isabelle released her biography titled Profession : bluffeuse in Montreal which was printed in France.
In her short career, Isabelle Mercier has earned over $800,000 as of 2008 and is sure to continue her promising career in the world of poker.
