Todd Brunson

Most people would expect a person such as Todd Brunson to have been brought up around the game of poker, with his father being the great Doyle Brunson. But, in fact, Todd didn’t even play the game of poker until he had graduated from high school and he accompanied his father to a poker tournament. After that he still didn’t play poker as a profession, and it wasn’t until he finished college that poker became a dominating force in his life.

In his early life, Todd and his family lived in El Paso in Texas. As Doyle would often be away from home playing poker, his life was fairly relaxed without much punishment. This is proven as he often used to pass the border into Mexico to simply hang around. When Todd was 18, he and his family moved to Las Vegas, as Doyle continued to become a poker star.

Three years into his university law course, Todd decided it was the right time to focus on poker. He dropped out of university and a year after won his first major tournament, the Diamond Jim Brady tournament, landing him $200,000. As a 21 year old who just won $200,000, Todd definitely had a real taste for the game, and the win had solidified his love of the game.

In 2005, Todd won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in the $2,500 Omaha Hi Lo tournament, and has since cashed in a further 13 World Series events and 4 World Poker Tour Tournaments. However, in vein of winning so much money at tournament poker, Todd took to playing high stakes cash games and is now considered one of the best high stakes cash game players on the planet.

He now also lives in Las Vegas with his wife and is a regular at the high stakes games at the Bellagio. It will always be tough for Todd to shake the reputation of being Doyle Brunson’s son, but with the steps he has taken in the past few years, it may not take long before he is one of the best players in the world. You will find Todd playing at his fathers poker room Doyle's Room. Sign up now using Doyles Room promo code BONUSDR to get the best welcome bonus.
