Doyle Brunson is a major figure in the poker industry, and is undoubtedly one of the best poker players in the history of the game. He has been playing poker for over 50 years and was the first player to win two World Series of Poker Main Events consecutively. He is also an author of some very informative and popular poker books known around the world. He has won 10 WSOP Bracelets, just one behind the record set by Phil Hellmuth.

Brunson was born on August 10th 1933 in Texas, in a small town with a very little population. He became very interested in sports as a young boy, as he had to often run long distances to visit other towns. He was very into basketball and running and even won a one mile event, recording a time of 4.43. He eventually had to give up sports after a work related accident left him with a broken leg in two places. Before his injury there was interest from Minneapolis Lakers.

He became interested in poker before his injury, so after the accident he had a lot more time to invest in his interest. He first played 5 card draw and found it easy enough to easily cover his out goings. He soon after achieved bachelors and masters degree in 1954 and started a job as a business machines salesman. On his first day he was invited to a 7 card stud game after work, where he won a months salary in one night. Needless to say he quit his job soon after and took on poker full time. During his early days of being a professional poker player he would often play in illegal games and has admitted to having been beaten and even having a gun pointed to him several times.

After moving back and forth around the country with friends, Brunson finally settled in Las Vegas, where he still lives today. He still plays in the worlds biggest poker games and is a regular at the $4000/$8000 mixed game at the Bellagio. His tournament winnings are reported to be over $5,000,000, half of which he has won at the toughest set of tournaments in the industry, the World Series of Poker. He also became the first person to win a $1,000,000 in poker.

Now Doyle has his own poker room, called Doyles Room. The room is on the Cake Poker network and is proud to allow US players onto the site. He looks set to continue playing large poker games for the foreseeable future and see out his life in his beloved Las Vegas.
