The Brunson 5 has now become the Brunson 6, as the sixth member of the highly-acclaimed Brunson 10 team has been chosen by Doyle Brunson and announced. These hand-picked by Brunson himself poker players are the best of the young guns when it comes to playing modern poker. Esteemed by some as the greatest online tourney poker player in the world, Steve “gboro780” Gross, will now join the elite team of online poker players.
Gross, who came in second to Brunson 10 team member #5, Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis, in Card Player’s Online Player of the Year 2008 race, went on to take the title in 2009 and is putting up a good fight for 2010 to take first place again with 4,242 points already. At 24, this Marlboro, New Jersey native has earned almost $3 million in online poker tourneys alone. He’s also amassed almost $400K in live poker tournaments, winning most recently, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and taking home more than $135K.
Brunson says of the recent pick, “Steve’s record speaks for itself. Player of the year in 2009, on his way to another one this year, the kid is unbelievable.”
Gross joins Zachary “Crazy Zachary” Clark, Chris “Moorman1” Moorman, Amit “amak316” Makhija, Kamberis, and Dani “ansky” Stern as member #6 to the Brunson 10, who collectively have earned more than $8 million in tournament winnings. Gross finished 9th in the 2008 WSOP event #5 No Limit Hold ‘em and has a handful of other WSOP top 100 finishes from 2008 and 2009. He’s one to watch this year, especially now with his new Brunson sponsorship deal.
If you play at Doyles Room, you’ll have the opportunity to Beat the Brunson 10 on the first and third Mondays of the month at 9:00 p.m. ET.
