A new poker video game is available for Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox, “Texas Cheat ‘Em,” but as you can probably guess by the name, it’s not your typical poker video game. This game, released last year, actually encourages players to cheat at Texas Hold ‘em.
Developed by Wideload Games, Texas Cheat ‘Em is “a new take on the classic Texas Hold ‘em rules, turning an average online poker table upside down by layering party games and other gambling mini-games on top of the basic rules, and allowing players to cheat to win,” according to the press release that introduced the game.
Apparently, the game allows you to swap bad cards for better ones, steal chips from your opponents, and even view their hands to make for an interesting variation of the ever-popular Texas Hold ‘em poker game. If you aren’t familiar with the game, you’ll be able to view the rules (which you’ll be breaking) and view interactive tutorials that help you learn the game. It will also let you know what kind of hand you are holding like a Flush or a Straight with hand rankings as well.
A spokesman for Wideload Games, Scott Corley, remarked, “We upped the ante on traditional online poker and set ‘Texas cheat ‘em’ in a decidedly irreverent world where players can do what they’ve always wanted to do–cheat. It’s a hilarious online card playing experience that gets even more fun as players become cheating masters.”
Since the release of Texas Cheat ‘em, Wideload Games has been acquired by Disney, so it’s unsure if any games of this moral standard will ever come out of this company again—a company Stubbs the Zombie and Hail to the Chimp.
