PartyGaming announced this week that they have joined up with one of the biggest TV broadcasters in France to supply a white label online poker club for the AB Groupe. The AB Groupe has 15 subscription channels and 52 million paying subscribers throughout France and other French speaking nations. The new poker site, LuckyJeux, which means Lucky Games, will join PartyGaming’s French poker network alongside PartyPoker.fr.
Another deal, which was put together at the end of last month, is another white label product produced by PartyGaming will be the online poker site Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU), France’s state monopoly on horse racing. However, PMU won’t be the monopoly for very long, as the French government approved a bill earlier this month that will legalize online gambling and serve to eliminate the government monopoly. AB Groupe’s recent move was no coincidence either.
PartyGaming issued a press release in which Party’s CEO, Jim Ryan, stated, “AB Groupe is a first rate addition to our French poker network and is consistent with our stated strategy of combining B2C and B2B offerings in newly regulated markets. Together with our recently announced alliance with PMU, we are in great shape ahead of the market opening and are excited about our prospects.”
AB Groupe happens to also own the French TV station, RTL9, that was in the news earlier this month when Ultra Internet Media, owner of Everest Poker, filed a lawsuit against Harrah’s and the WSOP when the contract between Everest Poker and the WSOP that secured the poker room as the on-felt advertiser for the next three years was breached. RTL9 replaced the Everest Poker logo with the Full Tilt Poker logo when broadcasting episodes of the WSOP. After peace talks underwent in February and Everest Poker was assured the Full Tilt logo would be removed but wasn’t in later broadcasts, Everest Poker withdrew the contract and withheld the $22.5 million payment to WSOP for the 2010 series.
RTL9 also airs Poker After Dark and National Heads-Up Poker Championship episodes and advertises promos for Full Tilt. If you are interested in going to the WSOP, you can enter a sweepstakes for a 2010 WSOP Main Event entry by visiting AB Groupe’s website. Just call a pay-per-play telephone number or send a text message for a chance to win.
