It seems to be the trend in online poker recently that major online poker sites are teaming up with well-established land-based casino brands to secure a place in the action should online poker become legal in the US. PokerStars has already confirmed a partnership with Wynn Resorts. Now Full Tilt Poker is negotiating a partnership with Station Casinos in order to expand brand recognition of both parties, though neither entity has released details.
One key ingredient in the negotiations is Full Tilt’s Onyx Cup series featuring No Limit Texas Hold ‘em tournaments. These live events will require buy-ins from $100K to $300K and will need a venue come May when they are scheduled to take place in Vegas.
Station Casinos has many luxury resorts in and around Las Vegas, most of them on the Strip. Some of their premier casinos include Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock, and Palace Station. Station Casino execs Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta also own the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) brand.
Another recently formed alliance lies between Caesars Entertainment (formerly Harrah’s Entertainment) and online casino 888.com. This partnership will likely promote the World Series of Poker Brand on an international level.
Not only are these companies expected to work together to reform the laws and ultimately legalize online gambling, but they have also been carefully established to provide protection to all parties involved. Expect to see more alliances forming between online poker gambling brands and big-name Las Vegas casinos.
