Since last November when Full Tilt signed Tom “durrrr” Dwan to be a team member of their elite Team Full Tilt pro poker group, Dwan has had to become more commercial… literally.
He filmed a very effective and deep (for poker) television advertisement with fellow Team FT members, Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, and Gus Hansen, who were his “idols” according to the commercial. In the spot, Dwan suggests that he first learned to play poker in the fashion of other pros who had gone before him. Like Hansen, he’d learned to play aggressively. Like Ivey, he had learned to intimidate. Like Ferguson, he learned to calculate every move (and wear sunglasses when appropriate). Dwan concludes the ad with, “Then, I learned to play like me.”
This commercial, titled “durrrr video test version V1.0.2” was linked to from Dwan’s blog and is the first advertisement from a new marketing campaign that is centered around Dwan, one of the most recognized online poker players in the world, along with Ivey.
Of course, the tagline at the end of the ad, “We play at FullTiltPoker.com,” is followed by “Play for free,” which most likely means this commercial will air in the US, where Full Tilt Poker continues to sell “free poker” due to the legalities surrounding real money Internet poker and gambling. So watch out for this commercial, which is likely to be one of many fresh ads out for FTP, who is eager to capitalize on all of their pros names and faces, especially their newest one, Tom Dwan.
