While the high-stakes poker player “IHateJuice” is not referring to the orange or apple kind, he also claims he did not intend to portray any likeness to “I hate Jews,” which has many online poker players taking offense to the online poker screen name. The name has since been changed by the player, who was forced to change his username by Full Tilt Poker, but he did admit he saw their point.
The “juice” that the German poker player was referring to is the cut from the pot (the rake) that the house (Full Tilt) takes. Because many are unaware of this term, or maybe they are just haters themselves, there have been complaints against the screen name. IHateJuice’s new name is “Kagome Kagome.” Kagome is a Japenese word that means basket and is a popular children’s song in Japanese, which may or may not be relative. Either way, it is unlikely that anyone will have a problem with it.
What is problematic about the name change, however, is that some players now are unaware of the force they are playing against. One opponent of the new screen name claims he wouldn’t have sat down at that particular table if he had known that it was really IHateJuice. He lost $7,200 due to the fact that he didn’t know who he was up against, which is a likely excuse. But the nice guy that he is, Kagome Kagome refunded a third of the money.
Kagome Kagome, whose real identity is unknown, won the 2010 PTR Player of the Year in the Hold ‘em Nosebleed division. His handle on 2+2 is hasu and Hasufly at PokerStrategy. He first began playing poker at the age of 16. He went from playing at $5/$ 10 fixed limit tables in 2009 to $200/$400. By 2010 he became a strong force in the high-stakes action at the $2,000/$4,000 levels.
