“Made it!!!!!!!!!!! November 9!!!!!!!!” read Jason “PBJazz” Senti’s Twitter page at 5:45 a.m. on July 18th after about 18 hours of straight poker.
A poker instructor for BlueFire Poker training site, Senti typically plays online cash games that range from $5/$10 up to $50/$100, but he’s not an avid live tournament player. In fact, he’s only cashed in one live tournament event before landing a spot in the 2010 WSOP Main Event Final Table. In last year’s WSOP, Senti came in 21st place in the World Champion Heads-Up No-Limit Hold ‘em winning about $17K. He’s actually won more in online events, cashing out in 5th place in PokerStars SCOOP 2010 Event #34 with a $47K+ win. Now short stacked in 9th place with only 7 million chips, this underdog may just surprise a lot of poker fans come November.
Senti, a former software and electrical engineer, only participated in three WSOP events this year, as he’s not the biggest fan of the WSOP grind. He made the right choice, though, as even in 9th place, he’s guaranteed more than $800K.
Born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota, “JBJaxx” actually made it through college before becoming a pro poker player, unlike many of the young guns who discover that poker is easier than studying and much more profitable. Senti graduated from North Dakota, worked as an engineer for many years, then made the career switch to professional poker. He began dominating the cash games online and moved on as an instructor working with player’s on Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond’s site instructional site, BlueFire Poker.
Now residing with his wife in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Senti is a singer in the band “Suburban Hero.” After only two years playing poker, Senti is making a decent living at the game, enjoying life, and now 9th stacked in the 2010 WSOP November Nine.
